State Sen. Thomas Albert opens Lansing office to serve residents of Michigan’s 18th District

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Thomas Albert has opened his Lansing office for the new 2023-26 Senate term.

Albert joins the Michigan Senate after serving six years in the state House of Representatives. The Senate’s new 18th District includes Barry County and portions of Allegan, Calhoun, Kalamazoo, Kent, and Ionia counties.

“I am thankful for this new opportunity to serve and help make our communities even better places to live, work and raise a family,” said Albert, R-Lowell. “I am focused on solving problems and offering better solutions to move our state forward.”

Albert’s family has lived in Kent and Ionia counties for generations. Albert and his wife, Erica, are raising their five children in the same community he grew up in.

Albert served as Appropriations Committee chair in the Michigan House. He previously served as chair of the House Financial Liability Reform Committee and the Appropriations Subcommittee on Corrections. Senate committee assignments for the new term are expected soon.

Albert attended both Michigan State University and the University of Michigan. He is a former Marine Corps officer, and prior to joining the Legislature he worked as an investor for the State of Michigan Retirement Systems.
