State Sen. Thomas Albert, R-Lowell, welcomed Battle Creek Chief of
Police Shannon Bagley to the Michigan Capitol on Wednesday night as
his guest for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's 2025 State of the State
address. Bagley joined the Battle Creek Police Department in 2021 as
its investigations deputy chief and became police chief in 2023.
Before Bagley joined the BCPD, he was a captain with the Kalamazoo
Valley Community College Public Safety Department and previously
served in the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety before retiring
in 2018 after 25 years of service.

State Sen. Thomas Albert, R-Lowell, was formally sworn in as senator
for Michigan's 18th Senate District during Wednesday's swearing-in
ceremony at the state Capitol. Albert was joined by his parents Jim
